Larry Norman Fundraiser

Thank you for your support at the 11th ANNUAL LARRY NORMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND BENEFIT

Together we raised $9,800 to support IHIH SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS!

Lawrence “Larry” Michael Norman

was born and raised in Hartford CT. Larry unexpectedly died at the age of 34, however, his passion for helping others and his love of hockey lives on through his scholarship. A die-hard Hartford Whaler fan, Larry fell in love with hockey at an early age. Growing up playing hockey and lacrosse through high school, Larry took his talents to Union College where he was a member of the varsity lacrosse team and actively played intramural hockey.

A die-hard Hartford Whaler fan, Larry fell in love with hockey at an early age. Growing up playing hockey and lacrosse through high school, Larry took his talents to Union College where he was a member of the varsity lacrosse team and actively played intramural hockey.

It is not Larry’s athletics that define his character, but his eagerness and desire to help those less fortunate.  At Union, Larry was involved with Big Brother’s/ Big Sisters where he took pride and joy in mentoring his little brother.  After college, Larry moved to New York City to pursue a career in Real Estate. Once there, his passion for sport and mentorship led him to Ice Hockey in Harlem where he became a  volunteer Coach and ultimately a member of the board of directors.

In his memory a scholarship was created and is awarded to the youngsters who exemplifies Larry’s enthusiastic spirit, positive attitude to his/her teammates and willingness to lend a helping hand.  Previously, recipients enjoyed a uniquely character-building summer camp experience.  The Larry Norman scholarship fund is now expanding to help aid IHIH graduates and their families who need assistance with college tuition.
